Reviews Overview

Most Liked

Customers rave about the flavors and quality of the fish; many cite it as the best they’ve had in Middlesbrough. The consistently crispy batter, perfectly balanced with tender fish, stands out. The generous portion of golden chips, well-cooked and not greasy, often receives high praises too. The friendly and helpful staff help create a welcoming atmosphere, turning first-time customers into loyal patrons. Families appreciate the kids' menu, making Carols Plaice a go-to spot for a family-friendly meal out. The option for takeaway or delivery draws in those who prefer to enjoy their meals at home.

Most Disliked

Some customers mention occasional long waits during peak hours, especially on busy Friday nights, which can be frustrating for those eager for their meal. While many appreciate the casual dining experience, some find the seating limited, particularly on weekends. A few have commented on the price for additional sides, suggesting that the meal can escalate beyond the typical price range. However, most agree that the freshness and quality justify the cost. The busy atmosphere can lead to noise, which might not suit everyone seeking a quiet dinner.

First time I've used Carol's plaice and certainly won't be the last I found out they sell long skate which is my favourite fish. So I phoned them on Friday night just before they closed and they put a skate in for me .It was absolutely beautiful lovely crispy batter (not greasy) and lots of very tasty chips .also the staff were very friendly and helpful. This is the best chippy in Middlesbrough by far.

Best chippy in the area. Family run and great fish and chips. There are 3 chippies closer to home but Carols is by far the best.
